dc.description.abstract | Abstract. The use of Arabic calligraphy in Muslim architecture has always been a traditional style. However,during the past few years, it has been observed that the font is being used in various styles and techniques,in terms of form, function and materials. Due to the lack of sufficient knowledge the use of Arabiccalligraphy in modern architecture, and its various styls`, this study aims at finding out the various trendsin the use of Arabic calligraphy in modern architecture. The study compiled and analyzed a number of imagesfor a number of buildings that used Arabic calligraphy. The most important result shows that the useof Arabic calligraphy appeared in three directions: The traditional direction, which is a continuation of thestyle of using the font in ancient architecture, the mixed trend that took into account the traditional style butemployed modern techniques and materials, and the new trend that uses the font in an unconventional way. | ar |
